Mrs. Robert Clifford Cornell boarded Titanic at Southampton and occupied cabin C-101. She was accompanied by her sisters Mrs. Edward Dale Appleton and Mrs. John Murray Brown. They were returning to the US after attending a family funeral in England. At Cherbourg they were joined by Miss Edith Corse Evans and were assisted during the disaster by Colonel Archibald Gracie.
Malvina was rescued in lifeboat 2 with Mrs. Appleton. They wer elater reunited with Mrs. Brown on the Carpathia and were also surprised to meet their uncle and aunt Mr. and Mrs. Charles Marshall who were passengers onboard.
Robert Clifford Cornell passed away in 1918 and Mrs. Cornell died in New York in 1941.
