Profile

Helen was 2 years and 10 months old on the night of April 15 1912. She was travelling with her mother Bess Allison, father Hudson Allison and brother Trevor Allison.

After the collision her brother was taken aboard a lifeboat by the nursemaid Alice Cleaver. The parents were unaware that Trevor had been safely evacuated and Bess stepped off a lifeboat with her daughter to find her son. The decision was to have devastating consequences as little Helen was to become the ONLY child in first or second class to die. (53 of 76 children in thrid class also perished.)

Her body was never found. A woman was to emerge later in the century claiming to be the Allison daughter, read more about the tragic story here.
