First mentioned on paper in 1784 under the name of “Brouwerij De Peer” it is very likely that there had been a brewery long before that time, this establishment has generations of experience under their roof. The brewery has survivied two world wars that put paid to so many of the Belgian rural breweries and is now one of the mmost recognisable independent names in the business.
This particular offering has been prepared in the ancient art of malt drying or smoking and the result is truly astounding. A formidable beer with a strong impact and flavour. It needs to be accompanied by something in equal measure of taste otherwise it will dominate. You will marvel at the astonishing contrast of liquid and smoke. A dense dark glass seems unremarkable until the aroma performs the magic. The smoked barbecue hues do not let up for the taste. This is truly an experience beer!
